In Laos, the digital camera is the universal sign of the tourist, but when westerners take photos in seemingly exotic locales, what are they capturing really? Is it a snapshot of reality, or a highly-distorted caricature that reveals more about the photographer than the landscape? If westerners already see Laos through a cultural lens, are they further removed from the reality by peering through a camera's viewfinder? Here is a poetic film that invites you to reconsider what it means to be a stranger in a strange land, and that will have you scrutinizing your photo albums with new eyes.
